Session descriptions

KEYNOTE PLENARY

Petra Guggisberg Nocelli – Roberto Assagioli and Psychosynthesis: a psychology whose time has come

We are living in an era of transition, characterized by the profound changes that the unstoppable process of globalization brings with it. Psychology (and with it the other scientific disciplines) has the ethical task of confronting itself, of questioning itself deeply on this state of affairs, in order to offer visions and articulated, meditated and effective answers. It is no longer just a question of the good and health of individuals, but of the good and health of the entire human group, and of all the living beings who inhabit this planet.

And it is here that Psychosynthesis reveals today, perhaps even more than in the past, its extreme relevance, its solid foundation, its being a precious gift. Why? How can we define Psychosynthesis? Can we really define it? Who was Roberto Assagioli and how did his life influence his work? What is the core of this approach?

WORKSHOPS 1

Alessandra Moretti– Magnetising the goal with the contribution of psychological functions and the guidance of the Will– a new model with exercises and techniques.

Alessandra and her colleagues at the Istituto Internazionale Psicosintesi Educativain Verona and other centres in Italy have developed a powerful approach to working with the psychological functions and Will which may be new to those that have studied psychosynthesis in the UK. Emerging out of the creative partnership with PCL to bring leadership coaching to Italy, Alessandra has evolved new techniques and approaches to magnetising the goal with our coaching clients, working with will and each of the psychological functions, especially intuition, imagination and desire. In this session there will be an opportunity to learn about and practice these techniques in pairs work in relation to a goal that is important to you.

Anne Welsh– The story of coaching in GSK – how coaching helped transform an organisation

I will share my story of relationship with Psychosynthesis since 1977 onwards… my long journey and how GSK has been a part of this.Everyone in the room will have their own stories and when I share mine I want to ask you to listen to the voice in your heads that recognises some of the twists and turns on the journey. I will invite others who were there to share in telling the story of Coaching at GSK. Within this I want to talk about Psychosynthesis and how we introduce it or not when working in the corporate world – how at times it is implicit rather than named explicitly.

Martin Egan– Key learning from working with 5DL in practice with clients

Bringing Roger Evans’ Five Dimensions of Leadership (5DL) to life as a practitioner in executive coaching and organisational contexts has made a marked difference to my client work. My long-term coaching clients have noticed this, and supervisees have seen the impact in their coaching. In this seminar I will attempt to show some of the dynamics of working with 5DL within a psychospiritual context as an executive coach, organisational consultant and supervisor. I will show how The Five Dimensions of Leadership are a valuable frame for assessment, coaching, consulting and coaching supervision as well as simultaneously being more than a model or framework because a psychospiritual context is implicit.

WORKSHOPS 2 – sessions to choose from

Anne Welsh– Psychosynthesis and coaching the being, using the self

We talk about the Use of Self in Coaching but what do we mean by that? It is about conscious relations with I and Other. It is about going beyond the mind and enabling others to experience themselves in their deepest truths. And it is about Love. Not ‘narcissistic Love ’but surrendering to ‘agape Love’ firstly for ourselves and mirrored out to those around us personally and professionally. This is possibly the hardest thing – holding our Self with deep love and self-acceptance.  This is the context for this participatory, experiential and practical session with Anne.

Kenneth Sorensen– The Seven Types – and JivaYou, a new profiling tools for coaches

To help us to empathise more fully with our clients, we have a powerful tool in psychosynthesis typology. Understanding our clients’ particular types will help us to identify their essential qualities, even when they are very different from ourselves, so that we might be of greater service. This workshop will show you how to discern a client’s types based on Roberto Assagioli’s model of the Seven Types and JivaYou’s personality test. As part of this investigation, you will have the chance to reflect on your own prominent qualities via theory and exercises and get feedback from others. The workshop will also explore the seven counselling strategies and styles – because we can benefit our clients by adapting our counselling style to suit the different types.

Tessa Denham– Engaging with identity issues and power dynamics in organisational systems – how this can be informed by psychosynthesis.

Tessa will invite you to engage with your experience of identity issues and power dynamics within organisations, explore how you are currently working with these and share the challenges and questions that emerge for you.  Group dialogue to ask what a psychosynthetic or psycho-spiritual perspective might bring to working with these challenges. We will explore ways of working with Self, Will and Synthesis which can help us experience our true identity, release our free will and create new syntheses beyond polarisation.  As both leaders and coaches, how can we bring these into the organisations that we work within?

WORKSHOPS 3 – sessions to choose from

Aubyn Howard– Growing psychosynthesis coaching across Europe – making connections, building a community, supporting coaches, promoting to leaders.

Aubyn will share his vision for taking psychosynthesis more out into the world in response to the emergent crisis in society and leadership – and invite you to connect with and contribute to a collective purpose for psychosynthesis coaching. How can we activate, energise and support a community of psychosynthesis or psychospiritual coaches across Europe? How can we create greater awareness and understanding of the need for this approach amongst leaders and within organisations?  How can we increase the connection, collaboration and exchange between existing psychosynthesis training institutes and organisations?  What is the potential role of the EFPP and other bodies within this?

Sue Cruse– Bringing what is unconscious to awareness – a key enabler of impactful team coaching

During this session, we will consider the significance of the unconscious at work within teams and how to safely, compassionately and purposefully facilitate the exploration of unconscious team dynamics to inform the team’s way of operating internally and within a wider system. We will consider three ways of approaching this and work with one of these experientially.

Paul Elliott– Introduction to the PGCPLC programme, Q&A

This session is for those wishing to find out more about our Post-Graduate Certificate in Psychosynthesis Leadership Coaching programme. Who is it for and why should you do it?  How might it benefit psychosynthesis counsellors and 5DL coaches? How does it allow experienced leadership coaches to work at greater depth with their clients?  What options are open to graduates of this programme, for example to continue with the MA in Psychosynthesis Psychology or the MA in Leadership Coaching? Paul will provide an overview of the course contents and approach and attempt to answer any questions you may have.

Sarah McGuire – What does it mean to be a Psychosynthesis Coach? Answering the call of our times

Psychosynthesis coaches, we are in a unique position to respond to the challenges of our times through our work in organisations and with leaders in particular.

What are those challenges and what is being asked of us as Psychosynthesis coaches to meet those challenges?

How can we be part of creating a shift in consciousness that has the potential to bring significant change to the world

How can we find the courage to bring both fierceness and love to our coaching practice that supports true spiritual emergence?
